Often forgotten about or dumped with the leftovers once the budget has run out, the laundry typically misses out on the love the rest of the house receives.
However it seems with the advent of coloured tapware, sinks and stunning feature tiles, the laundry is quickly becoming the must-do reno room.
Here are some things to consider:
Plan the space
A laundry houses everything from mops to cleaning supplies, drying racks, and the dreaded washing! Ideally you want to utilise as much space as you can and store all the items neatly away to allow for a clean working space. A combination of long cupboards, drawers, and overheads will enable this.
Go modular
Modular laundry systems allow you to personalise your design with endless cabinet, handle, door and benchtop styles. What’s more, the individual modular cabinets come fully assembled and just need installation.
Trough it up in style
Stainless steel troughs are not the only player in the game anymore. From brass, to gunmetal, white, black, and even baby pink sinks, we are seeing more and more people injecting personality into the space.
But if you’re not too keen on the coloured trough, you can express yourself through custom-plated tapware and accessories where the options are limitless.
Tiles, tiles, and more tiles
Your tile choice in the laundry is a big consideration and can really set the tone. You really want to create an inviting and happy space that you don’t want to avoid or hide away. A patterned floor tile will add character and might even disguise the lint that comes off clothes.
Get creative and don’t be scared to take risks.
Design the space to suit you
Whether it’s for a new build or a renovation project, your laundry design needs to be both functional and beautiful.
Like when designing a kitchen, you want the space to flow. You want to be able to seamlessly wash, dry and fold with enough space. Make sure to maximise on all the space you have for storage and include external access to your clothesline where possible.
